Hyderabad: 9 Nepali's arrested for Rs 5 Crore loot, security guard main accused

Police recovered 18 wristwatches, foreign currency, cash, precious metals, and valuables worth about Rs. 5 Crore.

Hyderabad: 9 Nepalis arrested for Rs 5 Crore loot, security guard main accused

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police arrested nine Nepali nationals who were part of a 13-member gang involved in a burglary at a residence in Om Towers, Balaji Nagar, PG Road in Secunderabad.

The gang looted the house and made off with a haul, including cash, precious metals, and valuables, worth about Rs. 5 Crore.

The main accused are identified as Shankar Maan Singh Saud alias Kamal (45) and Lal Singh Thappa alias Bahadur Thapa (47), both working as security guards and Mohan Saud (43), who works at D-mart. Others are Vishal Saud, Parvathi (wife of Shankar), Sunil Chowdary, Vikas Saud, Brijesh, Barsha Nath, Vinod Kumar, Bharathi Saud, and Pooja Saud.

According to Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand, "The idea to loot the house was planned by Shankar Maan Singh Saud, who worked as a security guard in the same apartment. Noticing that Goel and his family--residents of the robbed house were wealthy, he planned for robbery and get settler in Nepal."

Shankar then shared his plan with the other gang members. On July 9, night, when the Goel family went out on some work, the gang broke into the house, looted cash amounting to Rs 41,60,410, diamonds, gold items weighing 2.8 kgs, and silver items weighing 9.56 kgs. They also took 18 wristwatches, foreign currency including US$ 10, Euros 120, and Dirham 1001, and smartphones from the house."

Later, the gang divided into two teams to escape to Nepal. However, the police, with the aid of CCTV footage and technical support from North Zone Police, managed to intercept and arrest the main accused Shankar, his wife Parvathi, and Sunil Chowdary at Barshola Check Post on July 13.



"One of the accused, Mohan Saud, sustained injuries during their escape, and the gang returned to Hyderabad for his treatment. We traced them through his mobile phone signals and arrested the other five. The stolen items were also recovered," said the CP

The three other accused--Bharath Bista, Bharathi Saud, and Pooja Saud, are still absconding.
