Hyderabad: Mailardevpally police on Wednesday busted an adulterated ginger paste manufacturing unit operating from a residential premises in Subhan Colony, Ali Nagar.

Two people allegedly involved in manufacturing and selling the contaminated product to local shops across the city were arrested by the police.

Acting on credible information, police raided the premises and seized 675 kilograms of adulterated ginger paste worth ₹90,000.

Illegal manufacturing unit unearthed

According to the police, the accused were preparing ginger paste in an unhygienic environment without adhering to food safety regulations.

During the raid, officers found that spoiled ginger paste was being mixed with chemicals and other substances before being repackaged and supplied to various retail outlets in Hyderabad.

The adulterated paste was allegedly being manufactured under the brand name “Seven Cooks” and distributed through another firm.



Accused identified

The arrested persons have been identified as:

Mohmmed Ziyauddin (45), son of Mohmmed Sahabuddin, resident of Subhan Colony Phase-II, owner of Seven Cooks

Mohammed Mazhar Ali (47), son of Mohammed Shoukath Ali, resident of Subhan Colony Phase-II, owner of Arjun Enterprises

Police said both were operating the unit from a house in Ali Nagar without following mandatory food safety norms and cleanliness standards.

Seized material

During the raid, the police seized:

16 small drums filled with ginger paste

Five cartons containing ½ kg of ginger waste cans

Five 5-kg cans (in one carton)

200 labels in the name of `Seven Cooks'

2 kg labelled `Block Gold Spices'

1.5 kg of Xanthan Gum powder

In total, 675 kg of ginger paste valued at approximately ₹90,000 was confiscated.

Cases Registered

Two separate cases have been registered at Mailardevpally Police Station:

Cr. No. 227/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)

Cr. No. 228/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 274 of the BNS

Further investigation is underway.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rajendranagar Zone) Srinivas said strict action will be taken against those endangering public health by manufacturing and selling adulterated food products.
