Hyderabad: Assistant director 'sexually assaults' techie after promising role in movie; arrested

Hyderabad: A young techie was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man who promised her an opportunity to act in films.

Police have arrested 30-year-old Dantaluri Siddharthavarma who hails from Visakhapatnam. He has been sent to remand.

Inspector Anjaneyulu said Siddharthavarma, who works as an assistant director in the film industry, has been residing in Raghavendra Colony, Kondapur. The victim, a software engineer, met him through a mutual friend.

Siddharthavarma allegedly assured the woman that he could secure her a role in the movie. He invited her to his home to discuss the details. However, she was sexually assaulted at his residence.

On Tuesday, the woman lodged a complaint with the Gachibowli police. Later, police registered a case and arrested Siddharthavarma.

"We have taken the accused into custody and he has been sent to remand," stated Inspector Anjaneyulu.
