Hyderabad: Boulder crushes house at Allabanda Basti; minor killed, 6 injured
The boulder struck a ceiling fan before falling on Farhan, who died instantly.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 Jun 2024 3:31 AM GMTHyderabad: A two-year-old boy lost his life after a boulder fell on a house made of asbestos sheets at Allabanda Basti under Mangalhat police station limits late Tuesday night.
The accident also left a couple and their four children injured.
According to Circle Inspector Mahesh Goud, the deceased Farhan was the son of Mohammad Shaukat Ali (38). He along with his wife Duriya Khatoon (35) and kids moved from Bihar to the city two years ago. They have been living in a rented shed in the Alabanda area. Shaukat Ali works as a laborer and his wife works as house maid.
On Tuesday night, a massive boulder rolled over their shed at around 1:00 AM. The boulder struck a ceiling fan before falling on Farhan, who died instantly. The accident also injured Shaukat Ali, Duriya Khatoon, and their children ā Iyaan (7), Rahat Ali (6), Kusum (5), and a 15-day-old baby girl.
Hearing the commotion and cries for help, neighbors rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the family. The injured were taken to Osmania Hospital by the police. Two of the children were later transferred to Niloufer Hospital for better treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.
