Hyderabad: Burglars break into NRI’s house at Sheikhpet; decamp with gold, cash, CCTV cameras

Hyderabad: Burglars broke into the house of an NRI in Sheikhpet's Diamond Hills and decamped with 34 tolas of gold, ₹4.5 lakh in cash, and 550 dollars. They also took the CCTV cameras and hard drive, making sure no video evidence was left.

The incident occurred when the house inmates were away.

Mohammed Mujahid Kamal, an NRI who lives in Australia, had arrived in Hyderabad with his family. Since it was Ramzan, they had gone to a relative’s house for an iftar feast, locking their home before leaving.

When Kamal returned around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, he found the back door broken. When he stepped in, he found the house in a mess. The thieves had broken into two bedrooms, stealing gold, cash, and foreign currency. They also destroyed the CCTV cameras and DVR before stealing everything.

After being informed, the Film Nagar police arrived at the house with the clues team and began their investigation. They are now looking at CCTV footage from nearby areas and searching for the suspects.

The police are currently investigating the case.
