Hyderabad: Businessman loses Rs 20L after investing in nonexistent Assam govt contract

Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after two men cheated a Hyderabad businessman of Rs 20 lakh after promising him an Assam government contract for mosquito nets. Narasimha Reddy was approached by Gunduboyina Vinay and MR Kakani Manohar Reddy who claimed to have a good relationship with the Assam government.

He knew the duo through IAS officer K. Narayana. They offered to invest in supply blankets and mosquito nets contract in Assam state worth Rs 60 crores. They assured Reddy of good profits if he makes the investment.

Later Reddy gave them Rs 20 lakh. However, he later realized that he had been scammed. Reddy has filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police station. Police said a case has been registered and is currently under investigation. Police have urged the public to be cautious and to verify the legitimacy of any investment opportunities before pooling money.
