Hyderabad: According to Narsingi Police, a 21-year-old woman working as a sales representative lodged a complaint alleging sexual assault and criminal intimidation at her residence in Alkapuri Township under Narsingi police station limits.
Police said the complainant has been residing in Hyderabad for the past year for employment. She is currently living in Manikonda along with two friends on the second floor of a residential building.
Accused attacked woman with knife
As per the complaint, on the night of the New Year celebrations, the woman went out and returned home around 2 am. At that time, her roommates had not returned, and she went to sleep without locking the bedroom door.
Around 3:02 am, while she was speaking on the phone with a friend, she noticed that the room light, which had earlier been switched off, was suddenly turned on. She then found a man identified as Parvathala Rohith (23), a waiter by profession and an employee of Chilltop Café, sitting on her bed.
The complainant alleged that the accused held her by the throat, professed his love for her, and threatened her. When she did not respond, he allegedly attacked her left-hand little finger with a knife, causing bleeding and threatened to kill her.
She further stated that the accused forcibly kissed her and hugged her against her will.
Despite her requests to allow her to clean the bleeding wound, the accused allegedly continued the assault. When she moved toward the wash basin, he followed her. Taking advantage of the situation, she managed to escape the house. The accused allegedly attempted to pull her back inside but fled from the spot after she raised loud cries.
Due to the assault, the complainant sustained injuries to her lower lip and both sides of her neck.
Based on the complaint, Narsingi Police registered a case under Sections 331(4), 109, and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken as per the law.
