Hyderabad: Washing machine explodes in Ameerpet
Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against the LG company after a washing machine exploded in a residential house at Ameerpet.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a house on Dharam Karam Road, Ameerpet. A running LG front-loading washing machine suddenly burst with a loud noise, sending its top panel flying toward the roof and scattering parts across the wash area and balcony. The blast caused panic, forcing the family members to run out of the house in fear. There were no injuries.
According to Sanjeev Reddy Nagar Police, V. Sundar Rama Sastry, a resident of K.K. Enclave, Ameerpet, filed a complaint on November 29 stating that the washing machine exploded while in use. He said his daughter, granddaughter, and grandson had left the wash area barely two minutes before the blast, narrowly escaping harm.
Sastry told police that he immediately informed LG customer care, but alleged that the company “did not respond properly.” He termed the incident a grave safety failure and requested legal action against the company for supplying a defective appliance.
Following his complaint, police registered a case on Sunday under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case is currently under investigation.
