Hyderabad: A five-year-old girl lost her life after the sharp Chinese manja slit her throat while she was travelling on a two-wheeler with her parents in Kukatpally on Monday evening.
Horrific incident on National Highway
The incident occurred on the Kukatpally National Highway near Metro Pillar No. 781 at Sumitra Nagar. The child, Nishvika Aditya (5), was seated in front of her father on a motorcycle when the Chinese manjha suddenly got entangled around her neck, causing severe injuries.
Hearing the child’s screams, her father immediately stopped the vehicle and found her bleeding profusely.
Rushed to hospital, succumbs to injuries
The parents rushed Nishvika Aditya to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared that she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Medical professionals said the girl had suffered heavy blood loss and a deep cut measuring nearly two-and-a-half inches on her neck.
Family background
According to police, the child’s parents, D. Ramsagar and Padmavathi, hail from Ambajipeta in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh, and had shifted to Hyderabad some time ago.
The couple has two daughters, and Nishvika Aditya, the younger one, was studying LKG. The family had recently purchased a house and had stepped out together for interior work.
While returning home, they decided to visit a jewellery shop in Kukatpally, during which the tragic incident occurred.
Police investigation underway
Kukatpally Circle Inspector K. Venkata Subbarao said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine responsibility for the incident. Police are examining how the banned Chinese manja was found on a busy public road.
Renewed concerns over Chinese Manjha
The incident has once again sparked public outrage and concern over the continued use of Chinese manjha, which has been officially banned due to its lethal nature but continues to claim innocent lives.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate and report the sale or use of banned kite strings to prevent further tragedies.
