HYDERABAD: Film Nagar Police have arrested a constable for stealing a watch during an official search operation.
The stolen imitated Rolex wristwatch has been recovered from his residence. This action reflects the strict internal accountability mechanisms of Hyderabad City Police and its zero-tolerance policy towards departmental misconduct.
The case
A search and seizure operation was conducted on November 25 at the residence of Bathini Shashikanth for impersonation, cheating, and forgery. During the operation, it came to light that constable Sriramula Sharan Kumar of CAR headquarters, who was assigned duty for videography of the search proceedings, had secretly concealed a `duplicate’ Rolex wristwatch belonging to the accused, without entering it in the seizure memo.
Videography footage taken by another police constable in the house clearly established that the ARPC failed to act according to the law.
Based on the findings, a case was registered against Sriramula Sharan Kumar under section 316(5) BNS was registered at Film Nagar Police Station.
The arrest
After establishing prima facie, the accused was on November 28. During interrogation, he admitted to having taken the watch during the search operation. Based on his disclosure, the stolen item was recovered.
