Hyderabad cops arrest notorious inter-state burglars; seize goods worth Rs. 10L

Sangat Singh is a notorious house burglar who has committed several property offences in Maharashtra. He and his associate used to visit localities on a two-wheeler to recce the area and search for a target. Then his associate would break into the house and steal valuables. He changed his associates once arrested by the police. He also moved from one residence to another to avoid police surveillance.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police busted an inter-state gang involved in house burglaries and arrested four persons on Saturday. Stolen property worth Rs. 10 lakh was recovered from the three, including 176 grams gold, 2,000 grams silver and five mobile phones.

The sleuths of the Hyderabad commissioner's task force, north zone team, along with Marredpally police apprehended Sangat Singh Ajmer Singh Kalyani (38) from Pune who was involved in 17 property offences, including robbery and attempt to murder, in Maharashtra. The police also arrested his accomplice Akshay Popat Padule (26) who was involved in one theft case in Mundhwa police station, Pune, and Vikram Singh Rajput (29) of Rajasthan who received the stolen property.

Four cases have been registered against the gang in Marredpally, Kachiguda, and Amberpet police stations.

On 6 July 2021, Sangat Singh handed over the two-wheeler to Akshay Popat Padule with instructions to go to Hyderabad and wait for him on the city outskirts. Akshay reached Sangareddy the same day and Sangat Singh joined him on 7 July. The latter then fixed a fake number plate to the two-wheeler.

The two committed four house burglaries in broad daylight on 7 July – two in Marredpally, one in Kachiguda, and one in Amberpet. They stole gold and silver ornaments and some cash and escaped.

The two men along with Vikram Singh Rajput were apprehended along with the stolen property and handed over to the SHO of Marredpally police station for further investigation.
