Hyderabad: Cybercriminals have targeted the Indian National Congress (INC) by using a fake donation profile to fraudulently collect funds.

The case was brought to light when Syed Nizamuddin, the official spokesperson for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad.

Nizamuddin reported that impostors had created deceptive donation profiles, complete with the INC's name and logo, to deceive unsuspecting contributors.

These fraudulent profiles have been circulating on various social media platforms, with WhatsApp being one of the primary mediums used by the scammers. By leveraging the political party's reputation, the fraudsters have successfully stolen funds earmarked for charitable purposes through the use of a fabricated logo.

In response to the complaint, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to trace the perpetrators behind this elaborate scam
