Hyderabad: A biochemistry professor at NIMS Hospital was found dead in Lingam Cheruvu under the jurisdiction of the Suraram police station on Thursday. Dr. M. Vijay Bhaskar, 62, was reported missing earlier this week after leaving his home in Mettuguda without informing anyone.

According to Suraram police, Dr. Vijay Bhaskar left his home early in the morning on February 25, leaving his mobile phones behind. When he failed to return home by evening, his wife, Sujatha, filed a missing person report with Suraram police station. A missing case was subsequently registered.

On Thursday, locals discovered a body in Lingam Cheruvu (Lingam Lake) and immediately informed the police. When police arrived at the scene, they suspected the body to be that of Dr. Vijay Bhaskar.

Family members later identified the body of the professor.

Police investigations suggest that Dr. Bhaskar had been facing financial difficulties. Some locals said he had developed a habit of playing online games, which may have led to significant debts.

Police are currently suspecting that he may have taken his own life due to these financial pressures.

However, the police have stated that a complete investigation will be conducted, and all possible angles will be explored to determine the exact cause of death. They assured that the full details would be revealed once the investigation is complete.
