Hyderabad A young man was killed and 11 others injured when a Volkswagen Polo driven by a 30-year-old tipsy techie ran amok at IT corridor in Hyderabad on Sunday night.

Identified as Kranti Kumar, he went on a rampage for about a kilometre hitting multiple vehicles late Sunday night.

The chaos began around midnight when Kranti Kumar was returning his home in Nizampet after visiting a club in Jubilee Hills, According to reports, his blood alcohol content (BAC) recorded an alarming 530 on a breathalyzer test.

Detective Inspector K. Haribhushana Rak of the Raidurgam police station confirmed that a case has been registered against Kranti Kumar, who has been detained for further investigation.

Eyewitnesses recounted a series of harrowing events that unfolded along the IT corridor. Kranti Kumar's reckless driving led to a string of collisions, beginning near the IKEA rotary, where his vehicle collided with an SUV, resulting in minor injuries to the female driver.

Continuing at high speed, Kranti Kumar's vehicle struck a motorcycle before the Bio Diversity junction, causing injuries to the riders. Ignoring the chaos he left behind, he proceeded towards Mehdipatnam.

Tragedy struck near the Shaikpet flyover, where a pedestrian was fatally struck by Kranti Kumar's vehicle. The man aged between 20 and 25 years succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

Further havoc ensued as Kranti Kumar's vehicle collided with another bike a few feet away, injuring two youths on it. Trying to escape again, he rammed into an auto near KIMS Hospital, injuring three, ultimately coming to a halt after its front wheels detached.

Bystanders led to Kranti Kumar's apprehension at the scene. However, the identity of the deceased pedestrian remains undisclosed as investigations continue
