Drug party busted at Quake Arena Pub in Kondapur; 8 test positive for narcotic substance
Hyderabad: EAGLE Force busted a drug party at a DJ music concert held at Quake Arena Pub in Kondapur.
Eight persons, including two women, tested positive for narcotic substances during surprise inspections, officials said on Sunday.
Covert checks at Kondapur venue
Acting on credible intelligence that drugs were being used by some attendees at a DJ concert, EAGLE teams, in coordination with the Cyberabad Police, carried out a discreet operation at Quake Arena Pub. Officers entered the venue in plain clothes, posing as concert-goers, and closely monitored suspicious behaviour.
On-the-spot screening
Based on preliminary identification, 14 persons were taken aside for screening using drug test kits. Of them, eight tested positive for narcotic substances.
The accused were identified as Riyaz (26) of Shaikpet, Yashwanth (28) of Shapur Nagar, Bharat (35) of KPHB, Mohan (23) of Neredmet, Sabrina (27) and Trisha (22) of Tirumalagiri, Shravan (26) of Ganesh Nagar in Sangareddy district, and Vishal (27) of Borabanda.
Substances detected
Officials said the screening revealed consumption of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), cocaine, and OPM. Two women were among those who tested positive, highlighting the widening spread of drug use at nightlife events, police noted.
Counselling and rehabilitation
The EAGLE Force said the accused were counselled in the presence of their parents and will be shifted to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres for treatment. “Our focus is not only enforcement but also recovery and reform,” officials said.
Rehabilitation success highlighted
In an interesting development, a youth named Vicky, previously involved in a drug-related case, was also screened at the venue but tested negative. He told officials that police counselling and rehabilitation support had helped him overcome addiction.
Festive season vigil
Officials said intensified checks will continue across pubs, clubs, and event venues in the run-up to New Year celebrations, warning that strict action will be taken against drug use in public spaces.
