Hyderabad: Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) arrested three interstate drug peddlers from Rajasthan and seized 3.25 kg of opium along with two cars following an extensive 45-day operation.
The accused arrested in Bowenpally
The arrested have been identified as Savlaram Bishnoi (43), Hapuram Bishnoi (38), and Lalaram Bishnoi (41), all residents of Rajasthan. According to police, prime accused Savlaram had handed over the opium consignment to Lalaram about a month ago and on Thursday instructed him to deliver it to Hyderabad.
The trio reached the city the next day and were apprehended by EAGLE teams while waiting to sell the drugs in the Bowenpally area.
Tracked from Rajasthan to Hyderabad
The operation began on July 14 after police received intelligence inputs that a car had left Bhinmal in Rajasthan carrying opium. EAGLE teams tracked the vehicle and suspected it was being piloted by another car acting as a decoy for security.
By Thursday, officials had positioned themselves at toll plazas between Adilabad and Hyderabad. Real-time surveillance confirmed that the pilot vehicle was registered in Lalaram Bishnoiās name. The gang was intercepted around 3 pm on Friday in Bowenpally.
Misleading buyers with false health claims
In a press release, EAGLE noted that the accused misled buyers, particularly middle-aged men, by falsely claiming that opioids boost health, energy, and vitality.
āMany buyers fell prey to these baseless promises and are now battling addiction, health complications, and financial ruin,ā the agency stated.
