Hyderabad: ED attaches assets of rowdy sheeter Mohammed Kaisar worth Rs 1.01 crores

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Hyderabad Zonal Office, attached assets worth Rs 1.01 crores (approximation by book value) of a rowdy sheeter under Habeeb Nagar Police Station limits.

The attached assets of the person identified as Mohammed Kaisar alias Pehelwan Kaisar were immovable properties in Hyderabad acquired in the name of his wife Shaheda Begum. The current market value of the said properties is expected to be much higher.

History of criminal cases

The attached assets were processed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The ED initiated an investigation based on an FIR registered by Telangana Police against Mohammed Kaisar and others.

According to the FIRs, Mohammed Kaisar has been booked for several criminal activities including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, gambling, cricket betting and land settlement. Mohammed Kaisar, who started his life as a pickpocket and later became a notorious rowdy sheeter, amassed huge wealth from his criminal activities, the police officials said.

Declared income far less than expenditure on acquiring assets

ED investigation revealed that Mohammed Kaisar acquired Proceeds of Crime (POC) in the form of cash. By utilising part of the said POC, he has acquired several immovable properties in the name of his wife. Sale considerations for all the said properties, acquired from 2007 to 2020, have been paid entirely in cash. ED investigation revealed that Mohammed Kaisar and his family do not have legitimate financial wherewithal to purchase assets worth crores out of their meagre declared income.

The attached assets of Rs 1.01 crores were immovable properties in Hyderabad acquired in the name of Shaheda Begum, wife of Mohammed Kaisar.
