Hyderabad: A 22-year-old engineering student brutally killed his friend over a relationship with a girlfriend in Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. While the incident happened on 17 February, it came to light on 25 February.

The victim, Naveen, was from Nalgonda. He and the accused, Hari Hara Krishna, were class 12 batchmates at a private junior college in Dilshuknagar.

According to the police, Krishna killed Naveen for texting and calling his girlfriend. The two were in love with the same girl. She was also Naveenā€™s ex-girlfriend but later she was in a relationship with Krishna. He suspected that she and Naveen were still in contact.

Krishna is pursuing engineering at Aurora Engineering college in Hyderabad and Naveen is studying engineering at Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda.

According to Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan, on 17 February, on the pretext of a party, Krishna called Naveen to Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. During a heated argument, Krishna killed Naveen. He removed his body parts and dumped them in the hillocks of Abdullapurmet.

When Naveen did not return home or go to college, his family approached the police and filed a complaint. While the police launched a detailed investigation, Krishna surrendered before the police. It was also found that he had sent pictures of Naveenā€™s mutilated body to his girlfriend on WhatsApp.

The deceasedā€™s body was recovered and shifted to a local government hospital for autopsy. The police are interrogating the girl.

A case has been booked and the accused has been sent to 14 days judicial custody to Cherlapally jail.
