Hyderabad: Facing marital woes, Nampally excise judge A Manikantha ends life

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old judge ended his life in the Pochammabasti area of Bagamberpet under the jurisdiction of the Amberpet police station.

Inspector Ashok identified the deceased as A. Manikantha of Ghat Kesar Mandal Muchuvelli, Medchal Malkajigiri district. He was appointed as a Junior Civil Judge in 2016 and was currently discharging his duty as a Special Judicial First Class Magistrate (Excise) at the Nampally Court.

Manikantha was married to Lalita from Bhootpur Mandal in Mahabubnagar district for seven years and the couple had a five-year-old son. They were putting up at Pochammabati, Bagamberpet.

Tensions had been escalating between the couple for several months. Lalita had temporarily moved to her mother's house with their son.

Manikantha's mother had fallen ill and was hospitalized, which added to his stress. The situation escalated on Sunday afternoon when an argument broke out between Manikantha and Lalita over the phone. Manikantha expressed his intent to end his life before abruptly disconnecting the call. Shortly after, he was found dead in the bedroom.

Following a complaint by Manikantha's father, Srisailam, the police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
