Hyderabad: Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Friday raided an unqualified medical practitioner and seized antibiotics, analgesics, and physicians’ samples at Nagaram in Maheshwaram Mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

Identified as Chenna Tirupathi, he was allegedly conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications.

Medicines Seized

During the raid, DCA officials detected 23 types of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, and physicians’ samples, stocked without a valid drug licence.

The seized stock was valued at ₹50,000. Officials confirmed that antibiotics were among the medicines found at the clinic.

Risk of Antibiotic Misuse

The department cautioned against the dangers posed by such practices. A DCA press note stated, “Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on the health of the public, including the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.”

Raid Conducted Under Supervision

The raid was carried out by Dr. P. Sravanthi Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Maheshwaram, under the supervision of G. Prasad, Assistant Director, Ranga Reddy. Samples of the medicines have been lifted for further analysis.

Further Action Planned

According to the DCA, further investigation is underway. The department said, “Action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders.”
