Hyderabad: Ganja recovered from Bigg Boss fame YouTuber Shanmukh; held

Hyderabad: Police have detained Bigg Boss fame YouTuber Shanmukh Jaswant after ganja was recovered from his possession during a search operation at his residence in Puppalaguda.

Narsingi police seized 18 grams of the narcotic substance on Thursday.

The incident occurred when Narsingi police received a complaint against Shanmukh's brother, Sampath Vinay. His brother was accused of cheating a woman in the name of love and marriage.

Police registered a case and proceeded to arrest Sampath Vinay at his residence, where they discovered ganja in possession of Shanmukh Jaswant, Sampath's brother.

Hailing from Visakhapatnam, Sampath Vinay, 31, is a YouTuber known for his video content. Both brothers reside in Puppalaguda.

The case dates back to 2015 when Sampath Vinay met a young woman doctor from Visakhapatnam through Shanmukh Jaswant. What began as an acquaintance turned into a love affair, leading to their engagement. The couple was set to marry in December last year, but the wedding was postponed after the woman's mother fell ill. Subsequently, the wedding date was rescheduled for February 24 this year. However, Sampath began to distance himself from her, citing various reasons.

Allegedly, Sampath's parents informed the woman that Sampath was marrying another woman on the 27th of that month. Feeling deceived, the young woman lodged a complaint with the Narsinghi police station on Thursday. Sampath was detained, and during the search, 18 grams of ganja were found in Shanmukh's possession. Separate cases have been filed against both brothers. Sampath was remanded, while Shanmukh is under detention and interrogation.

Medical tests were conducted on Shanmukh to determine if he had been consuming drugs, and the results came back positive, indicating drug use.
