Hyderabad: H-NEW busts foreign drug cartel; 2 Nigerians among 4 held
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has busted a foreign drug cartel and arrested four people including two Nigerians, one Tanzanian, and one Sudanese.
All four foreigners were staying illegally in India and were involved in supplying narcotics in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Police have initiated their deportation in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
Accused identified
The arrested individuals were identified as Maxwell Anthony Izuchukwu (29) and Chinaza Nnanna Vivian alias Ibrahim Niasha (38), both from Nigeria; Mwajuma Almasi Masisila (30) from Tanzania; and Ahmed Hamid Abujabr Hamid (27) from Sudan.
Officials stated that they had entered India on tourist, student, and medical visas.
Overstayed despite expired visas
Despite the expiry of their visas and passports, all four continued to stay in India illegally. Mwajuma Almasi Masisila, who was residing in Banjara Hills, was found to be closely associated with the other accused and linked with drug offenders in the city.
Involvement in drug-peddling operations
Though no narcotic substances were seized during searches, investigations revealed that the four were actively involved in drug-peddling networks operating between Hyderabad and Bengaluru. When questioned, they failed to provide valid documentation or a satisfactory explanation for their continued stay in the country.
Deportation and blacklisting initiated
Following confirmation of their visa expiry by the FRRO, the Hyderabad police have initiated deportation procedures in coordination with the respective embassies. Officials confirmed that the four will be deported and blacklisted to prevent them from re-entering India in the future.
Public Advisory
The police emphasized that their continued presence posed a threat to public health and national security due to their suspected links with drug trafficking networks. Citizens have been urged to report any drug trafficking or abuse information to the H-NEW team at 8712661601.
