Hyderabad: The Excise Special Task Force (STF) team arrested a home guard for smuggling ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad in his own car.
The officials seized 15.33 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 7.5 lakh, hidden inside a modified spare tyre.
Smuggling from Odisha to Hyderabad
According to officials, Umakant Nagar, a native of Malkangiri district in Odisha, supplied the ganja and struck a deal with Neelamber Milkha (50), a police home guard, to transport it to Hyderabad. Acting on the agreement, the home guard used his personal car to ferry the contraband.

Following credible information, the Excise STF team, led by DSP Tula Srinivas Rao, set up a vehicle checking point near Ramoji Film City on Saturday morning. The team intercepted the car but initially found no trace of ganja. However, on close inspection, they noticed anomalies in the spare tyre stored in the car’s boot.
When the tyre was dismantled, officers discovered four packets of ganja concealed inside the tyre disk. Upon weighing, the packets collectively measured 15.33 kg.
Two arrested, one more booked
The STF arrested home guard Neelamber Milkha and his associate Sona Kala (35), who was driving the car. A case has also been registered against Umakant Nagar, the supplier from Odisha.
Both the accused and the seized vehicle were handed over to the Hayathnagar Excise Station for further investigation.
