Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a six-year-old girl was kidnapped, sexually assaulted and brutally murdered in the Narsingi police station limits.

The accused, who lured the child away under the pretext of buying her chocolates, has been apprehended by the police and has reportedly confessed to the crime.

The victim was playing outside her house

The tragedy happened on Sunday evening when the young victim was playing outside her residence in Narsingi.

According to family members, the child went missing suddenly, prompting an immediate and frantic search by the parents and neighbours. When their efforts proved futile, the distraught parents approached the Narsingi police to lodge a formal complaint.

CCTV leads to breakthrough

Acting swiftly on the missing person report, the police formed teams to scour the neighbourhood. The breakthrough came after investigators reviewed footage from local CCTV cameras.

The recordings captured a man approaching the girl, engaging her in conversation and leading her away by promising to buy her chocolates.

Using these visual leads, the police launched a targeted manhunt and successfully tracked down the suspect within a short period.

Confession and recovery

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the heinous crime. He confessed to taking the girl to a secluded spot where he sexually assaulted her.

Fearing that the child would identify him, he then strangled her to death. At approximately 1 am on Monday, the police recovered the girl’s body from the location identified by the accused. The remains have been shifted for post-mortem examination.

The police are currently in the process of remanding the accused to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
