Sun Steels theft case cracked in 6 hours, ex-employee held for stealing Rs 46 lakhs

Hyderabad: Ex-employee of Sun Steels robs Rs 46 lakhs from company, caught by police in six hours
Hyderabad: North Zone Police have arrested a former employee of Sun Steels Private Limited for stealing Rs 46 lakh from the companyās Patigadda office. The accused was apprehended within six hours of the complaint, and the entire stolen amount was recovered.
Theft discovered at steel firmās office
The incident occurred on the night of June 20ā21. The Managing Director of Sun Steels found that a Godrej locker in the office cabin had been broken open and Rs 46 lakh in cash stolen. Begumpet Police immediately registered FIR No. 266/2025 under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
Ex-employee turned accused
The accused, Giridhari Singh (28), hailing from Pureli, Madhya Pradesh, had previously worked for the company for three years. He was terminated six months ago for inappropriate conduct. Using his familiarity with the premises and internal operations, Singh hatched a plan to commit the theft.
Break-in through roof, escape via bus
On the night of the crime, Singh entered the premises through a gap in the roof and broke into the locker. After stealing the cash, he fled the city by bus, using a dhaba owner's phone in Medchal during his escape. This clue, combined with CCTV footage and statements from the bus driver, helped police trace his route.
Arrested at State Border, Rs 46.4 lakh recovered
With coordinated support from Adilabad Police, Singh was intercepted at the Telangana-Maharashtra border. The entire stolen amount of Rs 46.4 lakh was found in his possession.

Police Advisory to Business Owners
Hyderabad Police urged all businesses to verify employee backgrounds, install CCTV systems, and secure premises with adequate fencing or alarms. Proactive security measures, they emphasized, are essential to prevent such crimes in the future.
