Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl, Nandini, died by suicide following a dispute with her father over attending college. The incident occurred in Sitanagar under Film Nagar police station limits on Wednesday afternoon.
The second-year intermediate student at Raidurgam Government Junior College, was living with her father, Bola Srinivas, an auto driver. The family had migrated to Hyderabad 13 years ago from Sharpalli village, Boothkur Mandal, Mahabubnagar District. Srinivas was concerned about her spending too much time with college friends. He recently asked her to discontinue education and return with him to their native village, which reportedly upset her.
On the morning of the incident, she called her father using her cousinās phone, expressing her desire to go to college that day. Srinivas, however, strongly warned her from going. When he returned home around 12:30 pm, he found the door locked from the inside. After receiving no response despite repeated calls, he broke the window and discovered his daughter hanging from the ceiling fan.
With the help of a neighbour, Srinivas broke the door and found that she had passed away. The Film Nagar police registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
