Hyderabad: A 17-year-old intermediate student of Madhapur Narayana Residential College's Basara died after falling from the fifth floor of the hostel building while attempting to escape from hostel.
The incident took place on Tuesday night under the jurisdiction of the Madhapur police station.
According to Madhapur Inspector Krishna Mohan, Shiva Kumar Reddy, a second-year Intermediate student from Railway Kodur in Kadapa, tried to leave the hostel with his friends. When they found the main gate locked, they attempted to climb down using the window grills. Unfortunately, Shiva Kumar Reddy, who was the first to jump from the hostel building, lost his grip and fell.
Immediately his friends informed the hostel warden. The warden, along with some students, rushed to the scene and found Shiva Kumar Reddy critically injured. While he was taken to a nearby hospital, doctors confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.
While some students claimed that Shiva Kumar Reddy and his friends were trying to go out to eat biryani, Inspector Mohan stated that the exact reason for their attempt to leave the hostel is still unclear. "We have questioned the students, but no specific reason for their actions has been established," said the inspector, adding that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
