Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police arrest homemaker, Rapido rider for chain snatching
Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police have arrested a 33-year-old homemaker and a 23-year-old Rapido rider for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a woman employee during the morning hours of February 17.
Police recovered a 10-gram gold chain, the motorcycle used in the offence, and mobile phones from the accused.
The case has been registered as Crime No. 97/2026 under Section 304(2) of the BNS at Jubilee Hills Police Station.
Incident in broad daylight
According to police, the incident occurred around 9.30 am on February 17 when the complainant, Kadapala Manasa, was going from her hostel to the office, Vestrics Solutions, on Road No. 39 in Jubilee Hills.
When she reached Road No. 44 near the RTV Channel office, two people on a Suzuki Access 125 scooter (AP39BF9269) approached her.
The rider allegedly slowed down the vehicle while the pillion rider identified the gold chain around the victim’s neck. The pillion rider then suddenly snatched the chain, and the duo sped away.
Accused details
The arrested accused have been identified as:
Chesetti Revathi (33), a homemaker, currently residing near Hindu Public School, Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad, originally from Jagannadhapuram in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
Giddala Narendra alias Nani (23), a Rapido rider, residing near Hindu Public School, Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad, originally from Petlurivaripalem in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh.
Police said Narendra drove the scooter while Revathi, seated pillion, executed the chain snatching.

Police appeal
The Jubilee Hills police have urged citizens to remain vigilant, especially during early morning and late-night hours, and to avoid secluded stretches.
The public has been advised to dial 100 or contact the nearest police station to report suspicious movements.
Police said stringent action would continue against those involved in chain-snatching and other street crimes.
