Man arrested for manufacturing fake engine oil at Noor Khan Bazar
Hyderabad: Police have busted a fake engine manufacturing unit and arrested a 32-year-old man at Noor Khan Bazar.
The accused has been identified as Shaik Qayyum of Feelkhana, Begum Bazar, Hyderabad. Police said he was affixing Castrol Engine Oil labels and selling them to shopkeepers to earn quick bucks.
Police seized 710 litres of counterfeit oil and other materials, all worth Rs 3 lakh, from the accused's possession.
Brief facts:
The police said that the accused, Shaik Qayyum, was born and raised in Hyderabad. He studied up to class VII. Initially, he worked as a Tempo vehicle mechanic. Later, he worked as a labourer in an automobile shop at Nampally and gained knowledge in the automobile field.
Further, he started to drive a passenger auto rickshaw, and his earnings were not sufficient to support his family. He hatched a plan to sell the duplicate engine oil by affixing Castrol Engine Oil labels as it is a very demanded product in the market.
About five months back, he took a godown at Noor Khan on a rent basis, procured all raw materials and started producing duplicate engine oil, duly affixing the Castrol Active Engine Oil labels, Bar Codes, etc., and supplying to the local shops at low rates for Rs 220. The original price of Castrol Engine Oil was Rs 425.
On a tip-off, the South Zone Task Force, Hyderabad, along with Mirchowk Police, raided his unit at Noor Khan Bazar and apprehended the accused.
He was later handed over to the SHO, Mirchowk Police Station, Hyderabad, for further investigation. Subsequently, the Mirchowk Police registered a case in Cr. No. 85/2025, U/s 318(2) BNS & Sec 63, 65 of Copyright Act and took up investigation, the police said.
