Hyderabad: Man uses AI to create sexually explicit, communally sensitive content; held
Hyderabad: Cybercrime police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create sexually explicit and communally sensitive content, which he circulated on social media through fake accounts to spread disharmony.
AI tools misused to create content
Investigators said the accused morphed images and generated objectionable material by combining explicit visuals with distorted depictions of religious symbols. He allegedly impersonated members of other communities while posting the content to mislead the public.
Complaint exposes the offence
The matter came to light on August 23 after a complainant reported derogatory posts on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Police found the material not only outraged the modesty of women but was also aimed at provoking enmity between religious groups.
Fake profiles and growing reach
According to officials, the man had created multiple fake social media accounts, amassing nearly 1,500 followers who believed the posts were genuine. A mobile phone used in the offence has been seized.
Case registered, custody ordered
Police booked the accused under Section 67(A) of the IT Act and Sections 196(1) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Public warned against provocative content
Cybercrime officials urged citizens not to share or trust provocative posts that could trigger rumours or fuel communal discord. They cautioned that strict legal action would be taken against those misusing social media for hate speech, misinformation or defamatory content.
