Hyderabad: A 21-year-old medical student ended his life at Jawahar Nagar on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Jidi Jagadish, a resident of Vithalapur village in Narayanapet district.

Jagadish was pursuing BAMS at Erragadda B.R.K.R Government Ayurvedic College, He shared a room in Jawahar Nagar with his friend and fellow medical student Phanendra.

According to the Madhura Nagar police, Jagadish's father, J. Manikyappa, is an agriculturist from Vithalapur village. Jagadish, being the eldest son, had always aspired to become a doctor.

Last year, after failing to secure a seat in MBBS, he appeared for the NEET entrance examination and subsequently joined Erragadda Ayurveda College for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS).

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when Jagadish sent a distressing WhatsApp message to his friend Ajay, revealing his intention to take his own life.

Ajay immediately alerted their mutual friend, Naveen. Without wasting any time, Naveen, accompanied by Phanindra and Prashanth, rushed to Jawahar Nagar. They shifted Jagadish to ESI Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A case has been registered at Madhura Nagar police station under Section 174. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the suicide. Jagadish's father Manikyappa has formally lodged a police complaint.

It has been revealed that there was a heated argument between Jagadish, Phanindra, and a female classmate who had visited them on Wednesday night. Authorities are currently working to determine if the altercation and subsequent distress played a role in Jagadish's decision to take his own life.

Jagadish's classmate said first-year exams of BAMS were to commence from July 25. Unfortunately, Jagadish had been unable to attend college regularly and was facing difficulty in obtaining the hall ticket required for the exams.

This had put him under immense pressure. He feared that he may not be issued the hall ticket and consequently be unable to write exams.
