Hyderabad: A 54-year-old realtor was killed by unidentified assailants in broad daylight at Saketh Colony in Malkajgiri on Monday.
Identified as Venkata Ratnam, he was chased, stabbed, and then fired at, resulting in his instant death.

The daylight murder in a busy residential area has created tension in Saketh Colony and the surrounding localities.
The attack occurred near Foster Billabong School, within the limits of Jawahar Nagar Police Station. Police also recovered a bullet and knives from the crime scene.
Chased and attacked in public
According to police, the assailants followed Venkata Ratnam while he was riding his scooter. They intercepted him on the main road, stabbed him repeatedly with knives, and then fired at him to ensure his death. He died on the spot, the police said.
Police rush to scene, case registered
Alerted by locals, Jawahar Nagar police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Forensic teams were deployed for evidence collection. A murder case has been registered, and multiple special teams have been formed to trace the killers. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined.
Criminal background of the victim
Police confirmed that Venkata Ratnam had a history sheet on him at the Dhoolpet police station. He was an accused in a double murder case in the past. His criminal antecedents are being treated as a key angle in the investigation.

Investigators suspect that the murder may be linked to old enmities and gang rivalries. However, they said that all possible angles, including business disputes, are being thoroughly examined. Meanwhile, police have also stepped up patrolling to prevent any further incidents.
