Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man serving a life sentence for murdering his wife escaped from Cherlapally open jail (agricultural field) in Hyderabad.

The jail staff had opened the barrack gates at 6 am as part of their daily routine, but Maloth Hussain was nowhere to be seen in the field. His fellow inmates reported his absence to the authorities, leading to an investigation by the jail's supervisor and jailers. After confirming that Hussain had escaped,

The authorities confirmed that the prisoner had escaped and filed a case at Kushaiguda police station.

According to Kushaiguda sub inspector M. Prasad, Hussain had been accused of murdering his wife, and the case was registered at Khammam Three town police station.

Khammam Principal Sessions Judge sentenced him to life imprisonment in 2015. Hussain was serving his sentence in Warangal Central Jail, but in 2021, he was transferred to Charlapalli prisoners' farm in Hyderabad for his good conduct, where he had been working in the agricultural field.

He had been granted parole for 30 days on January 2. Later he returned to Cherlapalli Jail. Superintendent Kalasagar said that disciplinary action will be taken against him. Moreover, good conduct marks will be removed, and he will be ineligible for amnesty.
