Hyderabad: Pakistani national arrested after he abandoned wife to live with another woman
Hyderabad: The Langer Houz police on Friday arrested a Pakistani national after he was allegedly caught living with another woman in the same apartment block where his estranged wife stays.
Identified as Fahad, he now faces charges of cheating, harassment, and financial fraud.
He was living in Hyderabad despite the Centreās order to all Pakistanis to leave after the Pahalgam attack.
Wifeās complaint triggers action
The complainant, Keerthy alias Doha Fatima, told police that she met Fahad while working in a private firm. They married after a brief courtship, but soon, Fahad began to distance himself and grew close to another woman, Jabeena.
Keerthy alleged that Fahad abandoned her and moved Jabeena into another flat in the same complex. Unable to bear the humiliation and harassment, she approached the police on Friday.
Raid on Apartment
Following her complaint, police conducted a raid and found Fahad staying with Jabeena. āHe was caught red-handed in the flat. A case of cheating and other offences has been registered,ā said Langer Houz Inspector B. Venkat Ramulu.
Citizenship concerns
Investigations revealed that Fahad, a resident of Mount Banjara Colony in Banjara Hills, still holds Pakistani citizenship, despite having applied for Indian nationality.
His mother is Indian, while his father, a Pakistani, married in Saudi Arabia in 1990. The family settled in Hyderabad in 1998 after the fatherās death.
Police confirmed that Fahad and his younger brother continue to retain Pakistani passports. āWe have seized copies of documents proving his nationality. Further action will follow,ā the inspector said.
Financial fraud allegations
Apart from cheating, Keerthy accused Fahad of borrowing Rs 20 lakh from her. She said she arranged the money through a personal loan. She alleged that he subjected her to mental and physical harassment. She also alleged he continued an āillegal relationshipā with Jabeena despite being married to her.
