Hyderabad police bust illegal liquor racket: 318 IMFL bottles seized

Hyderabad: In a crackdown on illegal liquor trade, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone team, in coordination with Mirchowk Police, apprehended a 62-year-old man for illegally procuring and selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) without a valid license, in violation of Excise rules.

Accused in Custody

The accused, P. Narsing Rao (62), a businessman from Mirchowk, was caught red-handed during the operation.

Seizure Details

Police recovered 57.2 litres of IMFL (318 bottles) worth Rs 60,000 from his premises. The liquor included multiple popular brands and was intended for illegal resale.

How the Operation Unfolded

Investigations revealed that Rao purchased liquor in bulk from licensed wine shops and sold it illegally to customers, including during dry days and after shop closure hours, for illicit gains.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Task Force and Mirchowk Police raided his premises and apprehended him at the scene.

Legal Action

The accused and seized liquor have been handed over to SHO Mirchowk Police Station. A case has been registered under Cr. No.200/2025, U/s 223 BNS and 34(A) Excise Act, and further investigation is ongoing.

Police Team Behind the Operation

The arrest and seizure were carried out under the supervision of Sri K. Adireddy, Inspector of Police, South Zone, along with SIs M. Mahesh, Mohd Samiuz Zama, N. Naveen, and other staff of the South Zone Task Force, Hyderabad, in coordination with Mirchowk Police.
