Dubai, UAE: Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has been conferred with the ‘Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award’ at the prestigious World Police Summit (WPS) 2025, held in Dubai from May 13 to 16.
Representing the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), Anand received the award during a ceremony at the Dubai Police Officers Club on Friday.
Hyderabad police's efforts to curb the drug menace
The award, presented by the World Police Summit Committee, recognised the Hyderabad City Police’s outstanding initiatives in combating drug trafficking and consumption.
The recognition comes in light of H-NEW’s significant accomplishments over the past three years, including enforcement operations, public awareness campaigns, and educational outreach programs within the Commissionerate limits.
Expressing his gratitude, commissioner Anand said he was proud to receive the award on a global platform that saw participation from leading police officials representing 138 countries.
Challenges in tackling narcotics sale and usage
He attributed the achievement to the relentless dedication and coordinated efforts of his team, highlighting the comprehensive and innovative strategies employed by H-NEW to tackle narcotics-related challenges.
Later, during a panel discussion at the summit, Anand shared insights into India’s ongoing battle against narcotics, particularly in the post-Covid landscape.
