Hyderabad: A 33-year-old Nigerian national who had been illegally residing in India since 2019 was apprehended in Hyderabad and deported to his native country.

Authorities said his continued stay posed a threat to national security due to his suspected links with drug peddlers.

Apprehended in Tolichowki

The East Zone Task Force team, acting on a tip-off, caught Geoffrey Dozieobi Ibe moving suspiciously in Tolichowki police limits. Though no narcotic substances were found on him, he failed to produce valid travel or residential documents during interrogation.

Illegal Entry into India

Investigations revealed that Geoffrey had entered India through Nepal by road in 2019 without a valid passport or visa. He later moved between Hyderabad and Bengaluru, where he reportedly maintained contact with drug peddlers.

Verification and Embassy Assistance

His identity and travel credentials were verified with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, and the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW). Based on their findings, an Emergency Certificate was secured from the Nigerian Embassy to enable deportation.

Risk to National Security

Police officials said that allowing Geoffrey to remain in India posed a “high risk of further involvement in drug peddling and undesirable activities.” Consequently, deportation was deemed necessary to safeguard public and national security.

Deportation Executed

The deportation was supervised by Inspector U. Chandra Shekar of the East Zone Task Force and executed by SIs S. Karunakar Reddy, M. Anantha Chary, and P. Nagaraju, in coordination with the FRRO and H-NEW.

Ande Srinivasa Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force (East), Hyderabad, confirmed the successful completion of the operation.
