Hyderabad police invoke PD Act against rowdy-sheeter

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad commissioner of police, Anjani Kumar, invoked the Preventive Detention Act against Shaik Wajeed. The detention order was executed on 28 January and the 26-year-old Wajeed was lodged in Chanchalguda Central prison.
According to the police, Wajeed has committed several offences, including outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal trespass, and criminal intimidation using dangerous weapons, in the limits of Hyderabad police commissionerate. He has been creating fear and panic among the general public and acting in a manner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, apart from disturbing the peace, tranquillity, and social harmony in the society, they said.
The Rein Bazar police had arrested Wajeed on 13 December last year under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act. The police had remanded him to judicial custody.
