Hyderabad: The sleuths of the commissioner's task force, south zone, along with forest department officials on 9 March apprehended three persons for illegally hunting and selling wild animals. They rescued a Black Buck and seized butchered parts of a deer.

The accused have been identified as Chavan Shanker Baba (36), Mohd. Zubair (26), and Mohd. Salmanuddin (27). Another accused, Imran, is absconding.

According to the police, Chavan Shanker is a farmer from Chata village under Kubeer mandal in Nirmal district. Unhappy with his farm earnings, he decided to hunt wild animals and sell them. He met Zubair, a resident of Nizamabad, who was involved in selling and purchasing deer meat and live deer.

Zubair met Salmanuddin who told him that a friend was looking for deer meat. Zubair then asked Chavan to arrange for deer meat for Salman. Accordingly, Chavan trapped two deer. Salman came to Nizamabad and purchased a live deer for Rs. 15,000. Later, he bought another live deer for Rs. 7,000 from Chavan and butchered the animal. Some of the meat was sold to Imran.
