Cybercriminals are demanding 0.2 bitcoins ransom after they hacked Banjara Hils-based Proquest Consultancy Services (PCS) website.
Cybercriminals successfully breached the company's website and hacked the vital data. The hackers are now demanding a ransom of 0.2 bitcoins for the safe release of the compromised data.
The incident came to light when G. Vishnuvardhan, director of Proquest Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd, filed a complaint with the Hyderabad cybercrime police. A resident of Prashant Nagar, Moulali, Vishnuvardhan, 40, revealed that the unknown perpetrators not only infiltrated the company's website but also issued a menacing ultimatum, threatening severe consequences if the ransom is not paid.
A case has been registered under Section 384 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 66-C, 66, r/w 43 of the Information Technology Act 2000-2008. The police are working diligently to trace the origin of the cyber attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
