Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after a 17-year-old girl was assaulted by two men including a Rapido auto driver in Begumpet.
According to Begumpet police, a 17-year-old student booked a Rapido auto on September 22 from Banjara Hills to her residence in Secunderabad. Upon arrival, the auto came to the pickup location. However, the driver asked her to board another auto.
The second auto driver confirmed her location and started traveling to Begumpet. During the journey, the auto driver called another person and picked him up at the Begumpet Flyover. After the pickup, the driver began driving in the wrong direction, which frightened the girl. She asked the driver to stop the auto, but he refused and took her to an isolated place.
Once they reached the location, both the driver and the passenger moved to the passenger seat and gagged her mouth. They misbehaved with her until a group of passersby assembled. The two quickly fled, throwing the girl out of the auto.
The girl immediately took another auto and returned home. Traumatized by the incident, she didn’t inform her parents that same day.
On Friday she and her family approached the Begumpet police station to file a complaint. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 87 and 74 of the BNS Act, along with Section 7 read with Section 8 of the POCSO Act. The police are currently investigating the case.
