Hyderabad: A realtor turned BJP leader was brutally murdered at L.N. Nagar in Yusufguda on Wednesday.
Identified as Singottam Ramanna, also known as Ram, he was a Chairman of the Abdul Kalam Foundation and a BJP leader.
The perpetrators mutilated his body, severing his private parts, and inflicting fatal stab wounds to his throat.
Ramanna, renowned for his contributions to various social causes, had garnered fame on social media. Hailing from Kollapur region in the Palamuru district, he had amassed a significant following on social media due to social service initiatives.
Having aligned with the BJP during previous assembly elections, Ramanna had been hopeful of securing a BJP MP ticket from Nagar Kurnool.
According to residents, a group of ten to twelve assailants descended on the colony under the cover of darkness, committing the heinous crime before vanishing from the scene. Jubilee Hills Police arrived promptly, registered a case, and shifted Ramanna's body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem analysis.
Preliminary investigation revealed the victim had a business rivalry with the assailants. Both parties had filed cases against each other at the Petbasheerbad police station.
It is suspected that one of the individuals identified as "Mani" orchestrated the murder. Mani allegedly hired a woman to lure Ramanna to Yusufguda, where he was subsequently killed. Jubilee Hills Police are currently interrogating the woman in connection with the crime.
