Hyderabad: RGIA constable befriends girl, films objectionable video, rapes her; held

Hyderabad: Police have arrested a constable for allegedly blackmailing and raping a young girl.

Identified as G. Pradeep, he has been booked under the POCSO Act.

ACP Srinivas, accompanied by Inspector Nagendra Babu said Pradeep, a 2020 batch constable, previously worked at Pet Basheerabad Police Station. They said he is currently posted at RGIA Police Station. He resides in the Budvel area under the jurisdiction of the Rajendranagar Police Station.

Pradeep met the victim while visiting a nearby church. Over time, he manipulated her into believing that he intended to marry her and shot compromising videos. He later used these videos to blackmail her. He threatened to post videos on social media if she did not comply with his demands.

Last year, Pradeep got married. After getting a whiff of the situation, the victim's mother lodged a complaint with the Rajendranagar Police. Later, Pradeep was arrested.

ACP Srinivas confirmed that a case has been registered and Pradeep has been remanded. He assured that a full investigation is underway and a report will be submitted to higher authorities upon its completion.
