Rowdy sheeter Ayub Khan booked for cheating, criminal intimidation; police launch manhunt

Hyderabad: The Shahalibanda Police have registered a criminal case against notorious rowdy sheeter Ayub Khan for allegedly cheating a man of cash and gold ornaments and later threatening him with dire consequences to prevent him from approaching the police. A manhunt has been launched to find the accused.

Business deal turns fraudulent

According to the police, Crime No. 47/2026 has been registered at Shahalibanda Police Station against Ayub Khan and another accused, Mohd. Farooq, a resident of Kummarwadi.

The complainant stated that he was induced into a business partnership in 2024 and invested Rs 4.70 lakh. However, the accused allegedly misappropriated the business profits and failed to honour their financial commitments.

Gold ornaments mortgaged, not returned

The complaint further alleges that the accused later took gold ornaments weighing about six tolas from the victim on the pretext of clearing debts. These ornaments were reportedly mortgaged and never returned to the complainant.

Threats forced the victim into silence

In January 2025, when the victim demanded settlement of his dues, Ayub Khan allegedly intervened and criminally intimidated him, warning of serious consequences if he approached the police. Fearing for his safety, the complainant remained silent until now, when he finally came forward to report the matter.

79 criminal cases against the accused; special teams deployed

Police officials revealed that Ayub Khan is a habitual offender with as many as 79 criminal cases registered against him.

Special police teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused, who is currently absconding.

Zero tolerance for rowdyism: DCP

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charminar Zone, Kiran Khare, asserted that there would be zero tolerance towards rowdyism, intimidation, extortion and organised threats.
