Hyderabad: A 29-year-old woman was abducted, drugged, and raped by two men in Hyderabad.
Narsingi police station inspector Shiva Kumar said the victim worked in a gated community and was on her way home when the incident occurred. The victim’s husband worked as a laborer.
On Friday evening, after finishing work, the victim was followed by a man who took her phone number under the pretext of offering her work. On Saturday morning, two men, Shubham Sharma (29), and Sumit Kumar Sharma (33) followed her when she was en route to work. They bundled her into a car and whisked her away. After drugging her, they took her to an isolated place in the Kismathpur area and sexually assaulted her.
Later they dropped her at the Gandi Pet area in semiconscious condition at night. They also decamped with her gold chain (pusthela thadu), which weighed approximately 24 grams. When she regained consciousness, she called her husband and uncle and told them what had happened. They immediately went to the Narsingi Police Station to file a complaint.
Using cellphone numbers and CCTV footage, the police arrested both suspects and recovered the gold chain worth approximately Rs. 1,50,000. Two phones and the car used in the crime were also seized. It has been reported that one of them has a history of criminal offenses.
