Hyderabad: Software engineer allegedly killed by ex-husband over remarriage in Vanasthalipuram
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old software professional was allegedly murdered by her former husband in Vanasthalipuram’s Green City Colony on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Mahesh, is suspected to have carried out the attack after reportedly being unable to come to terms with his ex-wife Sunitha’s remarriage following their recent divorce.
Dispute over remarriage turns fatal
According to the police, Sunitha had divorced Mahesh a few days ago and subsequently entered into a second marriage. Investigators believe Mahesh harboured resentment over the development and plotted to eliminate her.
Mahesh allegedly entered Sunitha’s residence armed with two knives and a can of petrol. He is said to have first engaged her in an argument before launching a brutal attack.
Brutal assault inside residence
Police said the accused repeatedly stabbed Sunitha and later struck her on the head with a flower pot, causing fatal injuries. She was found lying in a pool of blood inside her house.
After the assault, Mahesh reportedly attempted to flee the scene. Alerted by local residents, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Accused arrested within hours
Mahesh, who initially absconded, was traced and taken into custody within a few hours of the crime. He is currently being interrogated.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Mahesh was unable to accept Sunitha’s decision to remarry after their divorce, which may have driven him to commit the murder. Further investigation is underway, the police said.
