Hyderabad: Speeding car rams into roadside shop in Mailardevpally; youth killed, 2 injured

Hyderabad: A youth was killed while his father and brother suffered critical wounds when an overspeeding Innova car rammed into a roadside shop at Mailardevpally here on Wednesday.
According to police, the accident occurred around 5 am, when the car, travelling from Shamshabad to Santosh Nagar, veered off the road and ploughed into a makeshift shop where blankets and rugs were being sold. The victims were sleeping at the shop at the time of the crash.
One dead, two critically injured
Deepak, son of shop owner Prabhu Maharaj, died on the spot in the impact. Prabhu Maharaj and his other son Satthunath sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.
Migrant family from Uttar Pradesh
The victims belong to a migrant family from Uttar Pradesh, which had been running a small roadside business in the area for their livelihood.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. While three occupants of the car fled the scene, police managed to detain three others for questioning. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
Overspeeding suspected
Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding as the primary cause of the crash, police said. The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and road safety during early morning hours in the city.
