Hyderabad STF seizes Rs 2.5 lakh illegal liquor in 84 bottles smuggled from Delhi, two held

Hyderabad: The Special Task Force (STF) of Telangana Police seized non-duty paid liquor worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh and arrested two persons for illegally transporting alcohol from the Delhi–Noida region to Telangana.

A total of 84 liquor bottles, along with the car used for transportation and a mobile phone, were seized during the operation.

Tip-off leads to STF operation

Acting on specific information that non-duty paid liquor was being transported from the Delhi region to Hyderabad in a car, an STF B-Team led by Team Leader Pradeep Rao, along with CI Biksha Reddy, SI Balaraju and staff, laid a trap in the Uppal Bhagyanagar area.

During vehicle checks, the STF intercepted the suspected car and found 84 bottles of premium Delhi liquor inside.

Driver’s confession

Upon questioning, the car driver, Aditya Prasad, revealed that he had brought the liquor on the instructions of Gopal Reddy, a resident of Uppal. He stated that Gopal Reddy had paid for the liquor at a shop in Delhi and asked him to transport it to Hyderabad.

Main accused arrested

Based on the driver’s statement, STF teams arrested Gopal Reddy, who resides at Pratishta Home Apartments, Flat No. 408. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that he had earlier supplied non-duty paid liquor twice, each time around 30 cartons, to the Nalgonda region during previous Panchayat elections.

Case registered against three

Police registered a case against three accused, of whom two, driver Aditya Prasad and purchaser Gopal Reddy, were arrested. The seized liquor bottles, the car used for transportation and a mobile phone were handed over to the Uppal Excise Police Station for further investigation.

Delhi distributor also booked

STF Team Leader Pradeep Rao stated that a case has also been registered against a Delhi-based liquor distributor named Prasad, who allegedly sold the non-duty paid liquor.

Further investigation is underway to identify additional links in the illegal liquor supply network.
