Hyderabad: Two auto thieves arrested; stolen vehicles worth Rs 25 lakh seized
Hyderabad: Two persons with a record of stealing autos were arrested, and nine stolen vehicles, collectively worth around Rs 25 lakh, were seized from them.
The CCS Balanagar and Jeedimetla police arrested the two personsāNakka Srinivas Rao (32) of Sai Baba Nagar, IDA Jeedimetla, and Mohammed Shoheb (26) of Bowrampet, Dundigal. They have been involved in a series of automobile thefts across Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates since 2014.
The police have linked them to more than 15 cases, with offences reported in areas such as Jeedimetla, Suraram, Pet Basheerabad, Neredmet, Kushaiguda and Shameerpet.
During the operation, police recovered a Hyundai Verna, an Ashok Leyland Goods Carrier, and seven two-wheelers, including Honda Activa scooters, a Royal Enfield, a Bajaj Pulsar, a Yamaha FZ, and a Honda Shine motorcycle.
According to officials, both accused have a history of repeated arrests and judicial custody for similar offences. Despite previous incarcerations, they continued their criminal activities, posing a persistent challenge to law enforcement.

In light of the recurring vehicle thefts, police have urged citizens to take preventive measures:
- Always secure your vehicles with proper locks.
- Park only in well-lit and secure locations.
- Consider installing CCTV systems for added safety.
In a public notice, the Cyberabad Police reiterated their commitment to curbing property crimes and ensuring the safety of citizensā belongings.
