Hyderabad: Two engineering students killed, 3 injured after their speeding car rams into metro pillar at Medipally
Hyderabad: Two engineering students lost their lives, and three others sustained serious injuries in a horrific car crash in the Medipally Police Station limits on Tuesday night.
The mishap took place near Pillar No. 97 when a group of students was travelling from Boduppal towards IT Pocharam.
Accident caused by overspeeding
According to police, eight students were travelling in a car (TS 32 G 1888). Police said the driver, allegedly driving at a very high speed, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a metro pillar. The impact was so severe that it left the car badly mangled.
Two dead on the spot
The two deceased were identified as Sai Varun and Nikhil, died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision.
Three students critical, hospitalised
Three other students, Venkat, Rakesh, and Yashwanth, sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to Srikara Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Doctors have reportedly described the condition of at least two of them as critical.
The remaining three students, Satvik, Harshavardhan, and Abhinav, escaped without serious injuries.
Victims from Wanaparthy District
Police identified all the victims as engineering students from Wanaparthy district who were studying in Hyderabad. The sudden tragedy has plunged their families and local communities into grief.
Deceased shifted to Gandhi Hospital
After reaching the accident site, police shifted the deceased to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination and registered a case. An investigation is underway to ascertain further details.
Police said Sai Varun was pursuing BSc Biotechnology. His parents are currently in Hyderabad. His father, Rajashekhar, is an RTC driver, and his mother is Sandhya Rani.
Police Appeal
Police have reiterated their appeal to youngsters to avoid overspeeding and rash driving, especially during late-night hours, warning that a moment’s negligence can lead to irreversible loss.
